Songkran 2553

“Sawadee Pee Mai” – สวัสดีปีใหม่ Happy New Year

Spent the afternoon and early evening enjoying Songkran, New Year's water festival, in the "Old City". Wall to wall people -- water water everywhere, which makes it hard to take pictures. I guess I need a water-proof camera! And live bands performing everywhere, bring your ear plugs, as speakers bigger then V.W. bus..........

On the way to the festival, you are not even safe in your car or especially on a motor bike. A man "loads up' his bucket beside of the road for an unsuspecting motorist!

A never ending supply of water from around the moat!

With plastic pails and water pistols the weapons of choice!

Some find a more peaceful way to enjoy the day..........

Young man observing the crowd before jumping off the top of the moat wall.

All along the way there are "refill" stations for your water supply......

This cute kid won the prize for best water thrower! He must have thrown non-stop for 6 hours. He was the master of the full bucket of water in the face. I think lots of people would liked to have drowned him!

Some of his likely targets

Plenty of music and water for everyone and a good time had by all........ Hmmm, no need to take a shower for days. LoL
