Siem Reap, Cambodia

I took over 400 pics, but don't panic I am not going to post all of them! I will try and divide my trip into sections rather then posting all at one time. Today's post is of Siem Reap Town. Siem Reap is located in N.W. Cambodia. The name Siem Reap means the 'Defeat of Siam' —today’s Thailand

Today, Siem Reap is Cambodia's fastest growing city and serves as a gateway to the world famous heritage site of the Angkor temples. The Town is a cluster of small villages along the Siem Reap River. These villages were originally developed around Buddhist pagodas (Wat) which are almost evenly spaced along the river.

The town is built around the Siem Reap River. This was a great place for walking with lots of shade trees. Day temp was 90-94 and at night around 78. It is the dry season in S.E. Asia so did not have any rain. The white building sits on the river and is a restaurant and hotel - "The F.C.C." or Foreign Correspondence Club

Hotels are inexpensive! This one is $15.00 a night including breakfast....

Restaurant and bar in the old city.

Street lady selling brooms

Have not tried these yet. They are raw cockles (clams) that cook by sitting in the sun all day....

Perhaps a new fashion statement?

Time for a break and cool to off...
