Huay Tung Tao
Arriving at our "hut" to pick out our "table". This is view of lake and the huts are free! Each comes with straw mats and table.
Huay Tung Tao is a large area with woodland and a huge lake. It’s popular and mostly used for running and bicycling for many locals from Chiang Mai and a few Tourists. Around the Lake at Huay Tueng Tao are many Restaurants which have the tables on cosy bamboo floats and huts with a great view over Huay Tung Tao Lake. Some Thai locals come for fishing, picnic or to worship to Buddha statue next to the lake of this nature reservoir near Chiang Mai in Thailand.
Everyone ordering their favorite dish for lunch. Aod's sister's were visiting from Chiang Rai and "Boy" is a friend of ours.
Park is very quiet and relaxing as NO JET SKIES! The wildest sport on the lake is peddling White Swans around the lake.
More shots of huts around the lake. It is the end of the rainy season and the lake is very low. The park is in the foothills of the mountains.
Hurray!! Lunch arrives......
If you are adventuresome you can order the the lake speciality, Gung den' (literally dancing prawns). They dance in a bowl of chili, because they're not dead! Death by chili! Eat them when they're still moving - just like the Thais do. Did I order them?? What do you think? I stuck with whole fish steamed in lime juice - "Aroy" - delicious in Thai.
As the sun slowly sets, we pack up and head for home. A great way to spend a relaxing Sunday afternoon. The Cost including admission to the park and lunch for the 5 of us $15.00!
