The beginning of "Monsoon" season taken from my front porch.



Buddhism plays a big part in daily life and everything from buying a house lot, building a house, a new car, etc is "blessed" by a monk from the local Wat. Here are pics of inside my car that were put there by the monks- symbolic marks on headliner and string on the steering column.




Aod's temple inside the house with offerings of food, flowers, drink, and even cigarettes!

Ken & Charlie Explore Northern Thailand!!

We left Chiang Mai and headed for Mae Hong Son a fairly large town in N.W. Thailand. We had to head S.W. in order to get N.W. as we had to go around and through a large mountain range. Doi Inthanon is over 8,500 ft. high. Here are pics of views along the way. Shots of the hotel we stayed in in Mae Hong Son and the park area. The "Hot Springs" in the area are too hot for soaking in. some are all most 195*. The signs around the springs were interesting and I still have not figured out what some of them mean??? Sites around the area - Sleeping Buddha and cave with stream and fish living inside. Our next stop was the "backpacking village of Pai, which is pronounced Bye!! Lots of neat shops and restaurants to explore. We stayed at the "Quarter" a small botique hotel. From here we visited the waterfalls and temples in the area. Chaiang Mai Pics

Well, here is my new home! Keep checking back as will be adding info and pics as it gets closer to moving time. Chiang Mai (เชียงใหม่) is the hub of Northern Thailand . With a population of over 170,000, it is Thailand's fifth-largest city. Located on a plain at an elevation of 1011 FT, surrounded by mountains and lush countryside, it is much greener and quieter than the capital, and has a cosmopolitan air and a significant expat population, factors which have led many from Bangkok to settle permanently in this "Rose of the North". Founded in 1296 AD, the culturally rich city of Chiang Mai is the longest continuously inhabited settlement from the ancient days of Siam.                              Udon Thani                           388 miles Chiang Mai to Udon                               March 16 - 19 2018, flew to Udon Thani - flight time a little over an hour....   Udon is home to one of the world’s earliest bronze-age civilizations, at Ban Chiang.
